Magic Moo Cow Game - Rules and Play
- The game seeks to emulate real trading of the Buy Write strategy using end of day prices for shares and options
- The object of the game is simply to teach new investors the strategy in a safe, practical environment and offer them support in their decisions, and add to the confidence of more experienced traders
- Players are called Milkers, shares are called Cows and writing calls is milking
- Each Milker will start with 100,000 Cash Cow Dollars
- Each month up to 12 (usually 5 or 6) Cows will be available to milk – each will be based on a real ASX listed share
- Milkers can only choose from those cows. If a Milker wants a particular share to be converted to a Cash Cow and available in the game to milk they can request that of the game administrators who may make it available (although are not required to do so) and if so it will be available to all Milkers for them to include
- Cows will be available in the game prior to the 1st of each month
- Any cow deleted from the game can be held in a Milker’s portfolio but can no longer be milked
- Milkers may choose to milk their cows at any time during the month
- All positions must be covered – you must own the cows prior to milking
- Positions can be hedged by buying put options
- No other strategy is allowed (short selling, option speculation, spreads, etc)
- Data will be input into the game after available from the ASX a minimum of 20 minutes after market close and prior to 7pm each night – if this is not possible a notice will be posted in the forum
- Milkers will “profit” when capital gain and call premium exceed any costs (brokerage) or capital losses. No actual money will be traded in the game.
- Irregularities in game play, data, or outcomes will be corrected by Game Administrators when pointed out to them and their discretion is final
- Each month Milkers will be ranked based on profit and contribution to the forum. A milker with the same profit level who has contributed to the forum will be ranked above a milker who has not. A contribution is a post to the forum containing a question, answering question from another milker, or comment, personal view or other. More active forum participants will be ranked higher then less active participants. More recent forum posts will be ranked higher than older forum posts. For a forum post to contribute to rankings it must conform to the Forum Guidelines
